Animal Parts

This project teaches children about animals, including fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds, mammals and invertebrates. They identify and describe their common structures, diets, and how animals should be cared for.

Computing

Programming with Scratch Jr

This unit introduces the principles of coding, using the age-appropriate ScratchJr software. The platform encourages basic understanding of algorithms and how to create precise instructions. Students begin to develop a sense of creating, debugging and logical reasoning, which are required for further programming at KS2.

History

School days- The Victorian Era ‘What would a school day look like in the Victorian Era?’ 

This project teaches children about their own school and locality, both today and in the past. They compare schooling in the Victorian era to their experiences today.

Greek

Adv: Phonics, form and read  short phrases, practise the use of the endings ‘ι’, ‘η’. ‘ο’, ‘ω’,’ει’,’οι’, spell common exception words and numbers to 30, enjoy fairy tales in Greek and participate in discussions about the environment by reading our core text.

Beg.: Food and Drink, Animals, Greek customs, stories, rhymes, songs, playground games, crafts relevant to the topics.

Scrumptious Salads- DT (Food / Healthy Eating)

  • This project teaches children about sources of food and the skills of peeling, tearing, slicing, chopping, mashing and grating. 

Victorian Toys- DT (Mechanisms / Levers & Sliders)

  • Children learn about different mechanisms and design a moving toy.

PE

Games and adaptive practice

  • Net and wall games: tennis, adapted volleyball. Attacking and defending games.
  • Reading the flight path of the object and moving appropriately into position to receive it.

Athletics and house activities

  • Running, jumping, catching, throwing

Be Yourself

This unit encourages children to recognise their positive qualities and appreciate their individuality. Children are encouraged to recognise different emotions and explore strategies to help them manage any uncomfortable feelings.
