English Attack! at Byron College

EA logo for red backgroundEnglish Attack! is a totally new approach to learning English, developed by media and videogaming experts in collaboration with researchers in cognitive neuroscience.

Our innovative learning method combines videos, photos, games and social networking for a daily English workout.

It's fun and effective. Once you try it, you won't want to learn any other way.

At Byron College we have decided to offer this exciting opportunity to all our pupils from Year 6 through to Year 13. Our Literacy Coordinator, Mrs. Kostopoulos, will be coordinating the children and staff through this programme. Each child will be given a code for free and full access to the English Attack! website. Their form tutors will monitor their progress and once a week discuss with the pupils how they are using the programme.

Testimonial

"Byron College is extremely lucky to have access to English Attack!, a brilliant new tool designed at helping our pupils improve their English in an interactive and engrossing way.

Video Boosters provide the children with an endless choice of clips from films, music videos and TV series to watch. Then various challenges like the Survival Test or the Grammar Jungle have to be completed to Evolve. With Photo Vocabs the children look at photos or pictures and develop their vocabulary. And then of course the five games (Swap Mania, Verb Dash, Booster Word Rescue, Speed Pix, Say What?) provide five fun ways to practise all the vocabulary, spelling and grammar from the Video Boosters and Photo Vocabs. As the children progress they earn Badges and Evolution Cards which is monitored by the teacher.

Our Year 6 class has already started using the English Attack! website and have found it incredibly rewarding."
